Best Western Plus Hotel Colbert
Excellent hotel that ticks all the boxes:
- room with a window that can be opened onto a quiet courtyard
- extra door between bedroom and corridor for super quiet and privacy with bathroom (« comfort » room, don’t know if all rooms have this)
- comfortable bed with bedside lights
- lots of plugs and usb ports
- walk in shower
- secure open air parking to park a tall Land Rover
- really excellent breakfast including own freshly squeezed orange juice and eggs and 3 types of muesli and 4 types of milk alternatives and fresh fruit and quality tea
- excellent restaurant for dinner
- a bar that serves Brooklyn Brewery IPA on tap
- and last but not least, super staff starting with the lady receptionist on duty Saturday night 10 Feb and right through to the breakfast attendant who walked us through the layout of the breakfast buffet so we found everything we needed right away.
The only very small issue was that the extractor fab of the bathroom in our room was not working. I reported it and I am sure it will be fixed shortly. (Room 328).

We stayed at Hotel Le Colbert in November. Had no idea what to expect.
Chateuroux was much larger than we expected, but the hotel was super easy to find and the car park was entirely secure ... electronic gate with coded entry and planty of spaces. Pedestrian entrance directly opposite reception door. There is also plenty of street parking right outside.
The building history is very interesting but I won't spoil discovery for you here.
Greeting was very friendly.
The hotel is again, unexpectedly upmarket, it's been created with great care.
The huge windows you can see to the first floor and above ... they are room windows, and the ceilings are very high. The whole room experience is excellent, comfortable bed, plenty of space.
If there is anything not in keeping with the tremendous design of the hotel rooms, gym and public spaces ... it's the bathroom. Everything about the bedroom exuded space ... the bathroom didn't. But it's a small point. With a little more thought the designer could have easily offered a double-sink arrangement.
The restaurant offering for dinner is really very good. The service is friendly, efficient and not overly attentive. Staff are very keen to explain or translate for those of us not able to speak their language.
WiFi is a strong connection throughout the property ... for free!
All in all, it's a great hotel, value for money and we'll be using it again when visitng the factory we went to in Arthon.

Had a great time here. The food in the restaurant was absolutely amazing. Thanks to the chef! Best beef during our visit to Europe. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. There is also secure parking for guests. Staff in reception and restaurant very obliging and friendly. Check-in was quick and easy, as was checking out. Only downside is the noise from traffic and pedestrians at night. So I would advise requesting a room on internal side of building.
I enjoyed the quirkiness of this hotel. What seems to be a converted factory or offices turned into a fairly interesting 70 something room hotel. The rooms were very well kept, the duplex suite I stayed in was very clean and the beds were firm but comfortable. Staff here were lovely and did their best to help feed us despite the restaurant closing just after 9pm! The location leaves a huge amount to be desired although if you are accessing CHR airport it is perfect. A bit of a nugget in the middle of nowhere.
